As a school we take the safeguarding of ALL our young people AND staff very seriously.

We follow the requirements laid down by the Government to ensure that there are procedures in place to enable our learners to learn in a safe and supportive environment.

The Government makes it clear that all schools must make arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

Parents/Carers need to be aware that we are required by law to pass on information which gives rise to concern about a child’s welfare including risk from neglect, physical, emotional or sexual abuse.

Wherever possible we will share any concerns with parents/carers and seek their consent to a referral to the Children’s Advice and Duty Service (CADS). This will only be done where such discussions will not place the child at increased risk of harm. Our Designated Safeguarding Leads will always carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the law and act in the best interests of the child.

There are four main elements to our Safeguarding Policy:

  • Prevention through outstanding teaching and pastoral support in accordance with the whole school supportive ethos.
  • Procedures for identifying and reporting cases or suspected cases of abuse.
  • Support to children who may be at risk or have been harmed.
  • Preventing unsuitable people working with children by offering Safer Recruitment practice; including ensuring that appropriate Criminal Records Bureau and reference checks are made according to Government legislation.

Our Safeguarding Policy applies to ALL staff and volunteers working in the school.
