Success for Flegg High Ormiston Academy students on GCSE results day
Students at Flegg High Ormiston Academy are celebrating a fantastic set of GCSE results today, marking an important milestone for both the young people receiving their grades and the wider Flegg community.
The results reflect years of hard work, determination and support, with students, families and staff coming together to help every young person achieve their very best.
The class of 2026 has much to celebrate, with students securing strong outcomes across a wide range of subjects and taking their next steps towards exciting futures. Many will now progress to sixth forms, colleges, apprenticeships and employment, whilst others have secured places on highly competitive scholarship programmes, opening doors to remarkable opportunities.
These achievements reflect the continued progress being made at Flegg, with today’s results being a positive indication of the school’s focus on high expectations, strong teaching and creating an environment in which students are supported to do well.
While every student’s success deserves recognition, some individual achievements include:
- Jacob who achieved grade 9s in mathematics, further mathematics, computer science, geography, biology, chemistry and physics, alongside grade 8s in English language, English literature and French. His academic success follows another significant achievement, having been selected as the proud recipient of the Ormiston Academies Trust Scholarship to Oundle School. Jacob’s outstanding results and scholarship reflect his academic ability and the commitment he has shown throughout his time at Flegg High Ormiston Academy. Alongside his studies, he served as head boy and was chief engineer in the Flegg F1 in schools team, who made it all the way to the national finals.
- Arden who received grade 9s in computer science, English language, history and combined science. They also achieved grade 8s in English literature, mathematics and religious education, alongside a grade 7 in art. Arden’s achievements have earned them a scholarship to continue their studies at Wellington College to study English literature, ancient history, history and philosophy – an exciting opportunity and fitting recognition of their academic success.
- Hannah who secured grade 9s in English language, English literature, biology and chemistry. She also received grade 8s in art, history, physics and Spanish, alongside a grade 7 in mathematics. Her results demonstrate remarkable academic strength across a wide range of subjects and are a fantastic reflection of the hard work and commitment she has shown throughout her time at Flegg High Ormiston Academy. The school wishes her luck in her future studies at East Norfolk Sixth Form College, where she will be studying chemistry, biology, psychology and sociology.
Simon Gilbert-Barnham, Senior Principal at Flegg High Ormiston Academy, said:
“Today is a day filled with pride and celebration for our whole community. We are absolutely delighted for our students and their families. These results are the product of hard work, resilience and determination, but they are also the result of a community coming together to support our young people to succeed.
“Behind every result is a story. There are families who have encouraged their children every step of the way, staff who have gone above and beyond to provide support and guidance, and students who have shown real character and perseverance when faced with challenges. Today’s success belongs to all of them.
“We are especially proud to see our students moving on to such a wide range of exciting destinations. Whether that is sixth form, college, apprenticeships, employment or prestigious scholarship programmes, they leave Flegg with the confidence, knowledge and ambition to make a positive difference in the world.
“These results are another important step forward on our journey to be a world-class academy. They show what can be achieved when high expectations are matched with outstanding support, strong relationships and a shared belief that every young person can succeed.
“Most of all, today is about our students. They have worked incredibly hard and should be immensely proud of everything they have achieved. We cannot wait to see what they accomplish next.”
